Wei Tong is a Career-Track Scientist in the Energy Storage and Distributed Resources Division at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. She joined the Lab in April, 2014 and is a member of the Applied Energy Materials Group in the Energy Storage and Distributed Resources Division. She obtained her B.S. and M.S. degree in Materials Science at Wuhan University of Technology, China and her Ph.D. degree in Materials Science and Engineering at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey in 2010. She specializes in chemical synthesis of solid state materials with emphasis on combinatorial library design and high throughput screening of battery materials.
Her extensive experience and practical knowledge in discovery and development of a variety of battery materials using combinatorial materials approach have led to over 10 inventions in the battery field. Her research interests also extend to the in depth understanding of the electrochemical reaction mechanism within the bulk electrode and at the interface through the advanced characterization techniques.
