Bio

Mohamed Firas Jemal, a Smart Energy and Sustainability Engineering graduate from the Mediterranean Institute of Technology (Tunisia, 2022), joined Berkeley Lab in 2022 as a Research Affiliate. His primary mission involves co-developing and validating an adapted version of BETTER to enhance energy efficiency in Tunisia's commercial building sector, fostering resilient and sustainable economic development. Currently, Firas is actively involved in various Tunisian projects, notably contributing to the design of a revolving fund, showcasing his commitment to innovative and sustainable solutions.

Affiliated with the Energy Analysis & Environmental Impacts Division and the Energy Efficiency for Development (EE4D) program, a Berkeley Lab and USAID partnership, Firas provides crucial technical assistance for scaling up rapid and effective energy efficiency interventions in Tunisia.

His work centers on shaping impactful energy and environmental policies, particularly in demand-side management. Under the supervision of Stephane De La Rue Du Can, he collaborates with a diverse team, actively engaging in designing and improving energy demand forecasting models. His commitment extends to conducting training workshops, contributing to technical reports, and addressing challenges to make a substantial impact on Tunisia's clean energy landscape.
