Bio

Alberto Díaz González joined Berkeley Lab in 2016 as a Program Manager for the Mexico Energy Initiative, where he applies communications and organizational skills to the development of cross-border research collaborations and institutional relationship building. He also provides program management support to the USAID-funded Energy Efficiency for Development program (EE4D) to scale up energy efficiency uptake in partner countries and the Flexible Resources Initiative (FRI), supported by the U.S. State Department, to advance the energy transition of the power sector in India. Prior to joining Berkeley Lab, Mr. Diaz served at the University of California, Office of the President (UCOP), as Assistant Director of the University of California’s UC-Mexico Initiative. His 20-year career as a diplomat with the Mexican Foreign Service included appointments at the Consulates of Mexico in Los Angeles, Seattle, Atlanta, and San Diego. Mr. Diaz holds a Master's degree in Public Affairs from the Goldman School of Public Policy at UC Berkeley and a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Communications from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).
