Dr. Nan Zhou becomes Leader of the China Energy Group
Effective November 1, 2016, Dr. Nan Zhou is the Group Leader of the China Energy Group of Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. The China Energy Group has worked collaboratively with researchers and policymakers in China since 1988, and has provided significant support to numerous key U.S.-China technology and policy-related initiatives to reduce energy use and emissions in China.
Dr. Zhou’s research focuses on modeling and evaluating China’s low-carbon development strategies, assessing building and appliance energy efficiency policies and technologies, leading the development of guidebooks and software tools for local governments in China to create low carbon and eco-city development plans. In addition, she works to provide training to policy makers, mayors, and practitioners in China on energy efficiency and low carbon development, along with conducting assessments of the current energy situation in China and forecasting the low carbon future outlook for the critical period extending to 2050.
Dr. Zhou currently serves as the Director of the U.S.-China Clean Energy Center-Building Energy Efficiency, a multi-year U.S. Department of Energy and China Ministry of Science and Technology collaborative research effort. In addition, she was the co-chair of the 2016 American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy (ACEEE) Buildings Summer Study, is a Committee Member of China Green Building Council (China GBC), and serves on the Advisory Board Member of the Asia Pacific Energy Research Centre under APEC.
