A delegation from Didi visited China Energy Group at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) on June 16, 2017. Mr. Bei Zhang, the Vice President and Director of Institute of Policy Research from Didi led the delegation team. The delegation was consist of members from Didi, Peking University, Tsinghua University, Renmin University, and Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. The delegation was on a study tour to learn about shared economy, clean and smart mobility, related public policy and technologies in U.S.
Dr. Jiang Lin, Director, Berkeley-Tsinghua Joint Research Center on Energy and Climate Change and Staff Scientist in China Energy Group introduced Berkeley Lab, the division, the China Energy Group, and works been done in the transportation sector in the International Energy Analysis Department. Then Dr. Anad Gopal gave a presentation on Electric Vehicles and fast charging infrastructure for Transportation Network Companies (TNCs), and introduced additional research on travelers decisions to use TNCs using agent-based simulation modeling. The delegation then met with Dr. Horst Simon, the Deputy Lab Director at Berkeley Lab to learn more the broad research areas of Berkeley Lab. The delegation was very interested in the electrification of shared vehicle fleet, and expressed their strong interest to collaborate with the Lab on public policies that would support the adoption of EVs in fleet vehicles and fasting charging infrastructure.
Dr. Horst Simon and Dr. Jiang Lin gave Didi delegation an introduction on Berkeley Lab's current projects on Smart Transportation and Technology.
