June 23, 2017

China Energy Group and the Berkeley-Tsinghua Joint Research Center on Energy & Climate Change (BR JRC) are partnering with the Beahrs Environmental Leadership Program (ELP) at the University of California, Berkeley to provide lectures to broaden participants’ knowledge and perspectives on environmental and natural resource science, policy, management, and leadership.

On June 22, Lynn Price, Nan Zhou and Jingjing Zhang gave a lecture on Low Carbon City Tools, Guidebooks, and the China Energy Group’s latest City Index work to 26 government officials and Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) officers from 18 countries such as India, Indonesia, Brazil and Peru. The policy and technical methodologies, as well as case studies from low carbon transitions from Chinese cities, provided approaches and examples for these officers from emerging economies that also face similar social, economic and environmental challenges. Through exposure to innovative sustainability approaches and dialogue, ELP participants develop the tools and skills necessary to meet environmental goals that also reduce poverty and social conflict.
