China Energy Group Presented at 2nd Shenzhen International Low-Carbon City Forum

Lynn Price, Staff Scientist and the Group Leader of the China Energy Group at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, presented on the topic of “Bringing Science Solutions to the World: Low Carbon Research and Energy Innovation at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory” during the Think Tank Dialogue Panel on behalf of LBNL's Deputy Director, Horst Simon, at the Second Shenzhen International Low-Carbon City Forum in Shenzhen China on June 10-11, 2014. He Gang, a graduate student researcher with the China Energy Group, also made a presentation on "Low-Carbon Development Comprehensive Solution Package for China: Guidelines, Indicators, and Tools" in the Parallel Forum II: Low-carbon Industry and City Forum.

Over 400 people attended the forum, organized by the Shenzhen Municipal Government of China's Guangdong Province and the Department of Climate Change of China's National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC). Xie Zhenhua, Vice Chairman of NDRC, Qiu Baoxing, former Vice Minister of China's Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, and many international experts were among the participants.

During the two-day event, several panel discussions and meetings were held on low carbon actions for central and local governments, as well as by the public and private sectors. A number of key experts in this area joined discussions including He Jiankun, the Vice President of Tsinghua University, Ye Qing, the President of Shenzhen Institute of Building Research, Amory Lovins, the cofounder and chief scientist of Rocky Mountain Institute in the United States, as well as Zhang Ruiying of the Energy Foundation China. A new Low Carbon Cities Think Thank Partnership was also launched during this Forum.
