Bio

Yimin Chen received the Ph.D. in Architectural Engineering at Drexel University in 2019. Yimin’s doctoral research is to develop data-driven based methods for whole building system fault detection and diagnostics. His research interests include the application of machine learning method in fault diagnostics, smart building optimal control, building to grid, model predictive control, field-bus technology and IoT technology and their applications in smart buildings.

Before joining Drexel University, Yimin was a faculty at Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture. Through 2008 to 2009 and 2013 to 2015, he also worked as R&D engineer in China Academy of Building Research and in Beijing Zhuxuntong Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Consultant Co., Ltd, where he was responsible for developing SCADA equipment and applications for smart building operation and monitoring, subway tunnel wind monitoring, and MPC strategy for the ice thermal storage HVAC system. He published more than 30 journal and conference papers and had three patents. He contributed for several book chapters and translated several English academic books into Chinese version.

Yimin is now a member for IEEE, ASHRAE and ACM. He is Reviewer Board member for the Science and Technology of Built Environment (STBE). He has served in the Technical Program Committee of International Workshop on Applied Machine Learning for Intlligent Energy Systems (AMLIES) since 2019.
