Sofia Hamilton is a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Sustainable Energy & Environmental Systems department at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. Her current research is focused on improving estimates of California's carbon dioxide emissions using satellite measurements and models of the atmosphere.
Sofia completed her Ph.D. at the University of California, Berkeley, in the Energy, Civil Infrastructure and Climate program in the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department, for which she worked on finding more computationally efficient ways to model air quality at high spatial resolution. She also obtained her M.S. and a B.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering at Berkeley, as well as a minor in Energy Engineering.
