Andrew Satchwell is a Senior Scientific Engineering Associate in the Electricity Markets and Policy Group at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. Andy conducts research and analysis on demand response, energy efficiency, distributed energy resources, and regional planning. Presently, he leads the quantitative analysis of regulated electric utility business models and the impacts of distributed energy resources on utility shareholders and ratepayers. Andy is also currently developing estimates of demand response resource potential for the Western Interconnection’s regional transmission and capacity expansion plans, and developing methodologies for modeling demand response in production cost models.
Andy has published several peer-reviewed journal articles, conference papers, and reports. He is also a reviewer for The Energy Journal, Energy: The International Journal, Energy Policy, and Utilities Policy.
Previously, Andy worked with the Indiana Office of Utility Consumer Counselor, where he served as an expert economics and policy witness on behalf of ratepayers. He also served as co-chair of the Resource Adequacy Working Group of the Organization of Midwest ISO States (OMS).
Andy has a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Pittsburgh and a M.A. in West European Studies from Indiana University.
