ETA’s Lucas, KPIX News Test Car Seats for Cancer-Causing Chemicals

The local news station and combustion scientist Don Lucas of the Energy Technologies Area ignited car seats to test how those treated with flame retardant chemicals compared with so-called “green seats” that used wool. The green seat provided about the same amount of protection, but without the chemicals, which have been shown to be harmful.

Poster Competition for Students, Postdocs

Students and early career researchers in the areas of building science, energy-efficiency and the electricity grid are invited to enter a prestigious poster competition sponsored by Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.

Five winners will be invited to give a five-minute lightning talk at Rosenfeld Symposium 2019 - Energy-Efficient and Grid-Interactive Buildings, to be held at the David Brower Center in Berkeley on April 23, 2019.
